Art assault: Mumbai gathers in support

Protests are spreading to other parts of the country after the arrest of an art student by the police in Baroda.

Artists and art lovers in Mumbai got together to express solidarity for the student of one of Indias best known fine arts colleges.

The student Chandra Mohan is still in jail after being arrested by the Gujarat police for the portrayal of Hindu Gods, in so called obscene manner, while the Dean of the Faculty has been suspended after protesting the arrest of the student.

3 LeT operatives arrested in Mumbai

MUMBAI: In a major success in its war against terror, the Anti Terrorist Squad has seized a huge consignment of deadly explosive RDX and arms and arrested three suspected LeT operatives at Aurangabad in Marathwada region, some 350 kms from here. The seized consignment included 10 AK-47 assault rifles, 2000 live cartridges, 40 magazines, and 30 kgs of RDX.

Mumbai resident doctors continue strike

Mumbai: More than 2,500 doctors in Mumbai and hundreds more all over Maharashtra continue to be on an indefinite strike protesting against the assault on doctors by relatives of patients and demanding better facilities. Maharashtra Association of Resident Doctors (MARD), which has given a call for the strike was meeting at King Edward Memorial Hospital in central Mumbai on Tuesday and was also likely to meet Chief Minister Vilasrao Deshmukh on Tuesday evening, MARD sources said here.
