Jet Airways moves SC seeking transfer of cases to Mumbai

NEW DELHI: Jet Airways on Wednesday moved the Supreme Court seeking to transfer all ongoing arbitration cases filed by its failed acquisition target Air Sahara in the Lucknow District Court to the Mumbai High Court, raising jurisdiction issue.

Jet contended that as per the arbitration agreement, the seat of arbitration would be Mumbai.

The Naresh Goyal-promoted carrier also sought a direction to stay all proceedings on the petition filed by Air Sahara in the Lucknow court.

Builders hike transfer fee to cover up for lean phase

Jet introduces 2nd Mumbai-London daily flight

Jet Airways today announced the introduction of a second daily flight on Mumbai-London-Mumbai sectors, starting July 10. It will operate these flights with the Airbus 340-300E aircraft, a Jet Airways release said. The return fare in economy class will be in the range of Rs 20,000 to Rs 70,855. The premiere class fare will be from Rs 1,24,000 to Rs 1,70,000. The fares are exclusive of taxes. Jet Airways' A340-300 enhanced aircraft can carry 269 passengers in a two-class configuration.

HDIL drags Mumbai realty firm to court

The Wadhawan group’s property company Housing Development Infrastructure Ltd. (HDIL) has sued a Mumbai-based property developer, Evershine Developers seeking compensation for transfer of development rights on a parcel of land and non-payment of dues to the bank. HDIL is seeking as much as Rs 160 crore of payment from Evershine as damages and has sought cancellation of earlier agreements. HDIL has also made Enigma Rustomjee, a unit of Rustomjee Estate, another Mumbai-based developer, which bought the development rights from Evershine with a higher floor space index (FSI) as a party to the dispute. Dengue-threat looms large over Mumbai

Jet, realty co get more time to pay for land

The Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) has granted more time to Jet Airways and Piramal-Suntech Realty to remit their dues on land blocks they won in an auction last year. MMRDA has given us more time. We have also proposed some payment schedules with the authority, said Piramal-Suntech Realty MD Kamal Khetan. Jet Airways and Starlight Systems won auctions of MMRDA in March 2008. While Jet Airways offered Rs 826 crore for a 24,000-sq metre commercial plot, Piramal-Suntech — through its subsidiary Starlight — offered Rs 496 crore for two residential plots of 7,050 sq metre each.
