Mumbai firemen prepare for monsoons

To be better prepared for the impending monsoons, and to prevent another catastrophic 26/7, the Mumbai Fire Brigade has organised a 10-day training session (May 13-22) for 60 personnel from the Search and Rescue team to teach them correct swimming techniques, handling of kayaks, powerboats, rescue boats, inflatable rafts and the throwing of rescue lines, at H20 Water Sports Complex.

The training will enable them to handle the twelve kayaks, six powerboats, six rescue boats and a bulk order of life jackets and buoys that the Mumbai Fire Brigade will procure by the end of May.

Tata Power net profit up 61%

Tata Power (TPC) has recorded a 61% rise in net profit at Rs 202.32 crore for the quarter ended September 30, 06, as compared with the year-ago period, while revenues increased by 14% at Rs 1,200.83 crore.
