The Bombay high court on Monday stayed the redevelopment of a 220-year-old structure near Banganga lake at Walkeshwar in South Mumbai.
Admitting an appeal filed by the official trustee, who is one of the trustees of the property that includes a Venkatesh Balaji Temple, a division bench of justice FI Rebello and justice JH Bhatia stayed the project.
The court order came on a petition filed by the trustees challenging the redevelopment of property. The petitioners said the project would violate the coastal regulation zone (CRZ) norms and the city’s heritage rules.
