Damaged plane moved from Mumbai airport

The Sahara Boeing 737, which was blocking a runway at the Mumbai airport, is being finally moved using cranes.

It has been hampering full-fledged operations on Mumbai airport’s main runway as a result of which flights have been running as late as three hours.

Air Sahara’s Kolkata-Mumbai Boeing 737 missed touchdown by several metres while landing on October 9.

It overshot the main runway, which was closed immediately, and the secondary runway was made available.

The Director General of Civil Aviation is probing the incident. (With PTI inputs)

Plane towed away, Mumbai runway clears

After blocking the runway at Mumbai airport for three days, the Air Sahara aircraft was finally towed away this morning. The plane has been removed and taken to a parking area in the airport. The flight operations at the airport will normalise after instrument landing system was recalibrated, they said. Jet Airways plane makes emergency landing at Mumbai

A London-Mumbai Jet Airways flight made an emergency landing here Sunday afternoon after developing an engine snag, airport officials said, adding all passengers aboard the plane were safe. The flight 9W118, with 198 passengers onboard, suffered an engine failure but made a safe landing on one engine at around 1 p.m. at the Sahar International Airport here. All passengers onboard the Airbus A340-300, including four infants, were reported to be safe. The aircraft was temporarily grounded and inspected for damage, the officials said.

Mumbai airport employees protest modernisation bid

MUMBAI: Soon after bids opened for the modernisation of Delhi and Mumbai airports, airport staff here went on a strike triggering chaos at the domestic terminal of the airport here. Hundreds of employees of the Airports Authority of India (AAI) held demonstrations and shouted slogans at the domestic airport here blocking movement. Mumbai Police and personnel from the Central Industrial Security Force were deployed at the airport by around 12.30 p.m., airport officials said.
